The Columbia Foundation supports organizations that contribute to the quality of life in Howard County in the areas of human services, arts, culture, education, environment and community affairs. The proposals that interest us most demonstrate practical solutions and efforts at prevention, collaboration and volunteer support.
New Grant Cycles Launched
In 2010, the Columbia Foundation celebrated 40 years of service to the community. Based on our 40 years of experience and the distribution of more than $10 million in grants across Howard County, the Foundation’s Board of Directors, Grants Committee and staff agreed that it was important to restructure our Grant Program to best meet community needs.
- We remain committed to supporting nonprofit organizations in the areas of human services, arts & culture, education, environment and community affairs.
- We will continue to provide general operating support grants whenever possible to give organizations the ability to use funds where they are most needed.
We have launched the following three new grant programs:
- Community Grants Program for requests up to $15,000 with a once-a-year deadline in October.
- Mini-Grants Program for quarterly requests from $500 – $2,000 for pilot projects.
- Emergency/Urgent Needs Grant Program for requests throughout the year from $250 – $2,000 for organizations in need of immediate assistance.
