Columbia, MD - June 19, 2009 - The Board of The Columbia Foundation, Howard County’s community foundation, has elected the following officers: Chair: Mary Ann Scully, Howard Bank; Vice Chair: Karen Geary, Johns Hopkins University; Secretary: Dorothy Harris, Pal-Tech; and Treasurer: Brian Walter, M&T Bank.
Newly elected to the Board are: Mark Biegel, co-founder and senior portfolio strategist, Biegel and Waller; Margaret Kim, President/COO and co-founder of AllCare of Maryland; Catherine Schoonover, Vice President of The Rouse Company Foundation; and Rev. Dr. Ostein Truitt, Assistant Pastor, St. John Baptist Church.
Founded in 1969, the Foundation has awarded over $10 million in grants to Howard County nonprofit organizations delivering human service, arts and cultural, educational and civic programs. Money for the grant programs comes primarily from income generated by the Foundation’s endowment supported by over 240 funds established by Howard County businesses, families and individuals.
