Employees at Ascend One Corporation make payroll deductions to the EDGE (Employee Donations & Grants Empowerment) Fund, which is a donor-advised fund at The Columbia Foundation. An employee committee decides which organizations to support. Committee members include (from l.) Joseph V. Murray, Sr., Denis Sullivan, Angela Reese and Richard Pasquarella.

Create Your Own Fund

The Columbia Foundation can give you, your family or your business an opportunity to create a legacy and have a lasting impact on the community by opening a named fund in our endowment. And you can open your fund with just $10,000 (please note that scholarship funds have a required minimum of $20,000), which can be paid in a lump sum or in installments as part of a multi-year commitment.

Our endowment is a permanent source of income for our competitive grant programs. So your fund will benefit the community now, and into the future.

The kinds of funds available are:

Unrestricted Funds

With an unrestricted fund, your charitable giving will have the greatest possible impact now and in the future since it allows for the greatest flexibility and responsiveness.  Our board and staff are aware of our county’s changing needs and know how to guide your gift so it provides the most benefit.

Field of Interest Funds

You specify an issue, such as substance abuse prevention, the arts, or young people, and the Foundation determines the programs best addressing your interest, both now and in the future.

Donor-Advised Funds

You act as a grant-making advisor by recommending, for Foundation approval, those organizations you would like your fund to support.

Giving Circle Funds

Another way to fund a special interest is through a Giving Circle, where friends and family members can pool their money to start and maintain a Donor-Advised Fund. Ask us for more information.

Visit the Women's Giving Circle website.

Scholarship and Award Funds

Some donors honor or memorialize a loved one by creating a scholarship or award program and assisting with the selection criteria.

The Columbia Foundation charges an administrative fee for all funds except those that are unrestricted.
